Kacper Biel is a Mental Health Counseling Intern and graduate student at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. At House of Wellness Mental Health Counseling, PLLC, he provides online therapy via telehealth to youth, young adults, and adults across New York. He is especially interested in supporting college students, individuals from immigrant and first-generation communities, and clients navigating anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), life transitions, emotional overwhelm, self-esteem concerns, relationship difficulties, and the lasting effects of stressful or challenging experiences.
Kacper brings a warm, collaborative, and structured style to therapy. He recognizes that starting therapy can feel unfamiliar or even intimidating, especially when it involves discussing experiences that are difficult to put into words or when someone comes from a family or community in which therapy may not be widely understood or accepted. He works to create a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves, moving at their own pace, and speaking openly without fear of judgment.
Kacper takes a holistic approach, recognizing that emotional well-being is shaped not only by what happens internally but also by the many systems and circumstances surrounding a person, including family, relationships, school, work, culture, community, and everyday stressors. He understands that challenges can come from many different directions at once and works with clients to make sense of how these parts of life interact. Kacper believes therapy works best when clients feel understood and actively involved in the process. He collaborates with each person to identify meaningful goals, better understand their experiences, and develop tools that feel realistic and useful in everyday life.
His approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and grounded in evidence-based care. Kacper draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based strategies, psychodynamic perspectives, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and related concerns. Depending on each client’s needs, sessions may focus on building practical coping skills, reducing avoidance and unhelpful behavioral patterns, understanding patterns in thoughts and relationships, increasing emotional awareness, or exploring how past experiences continue to influence the present. His goal is to balance practical support for current challenges with opportunities for deeper reflection and lasting personal growth.
Kacper is a first-generation Polish American and is bilingual in English and Polish. Growing up in an immigrant family has shaped his appreciation for the ways culture, family expectations, identity, and intergenerational experiences can affect emotional well-being. He understands that clients may sometimes feel caught between different values, roles, or expectations, and he strives to provide care that respects the full context of each person’s background and lived experience.
Kacper is expected to graduate with his MA in Mental Health Counseling in 2027. His background includes community-based work with Masbia Soup Kitchen Network, supporting college student development through the Freshman Year Seminar at Baruch College, and teaching elementary school students in after-school and Saturday enrichment programs. These experiences have strengthened his commitment to accessible, compassionate, and culturally sensitive mental health care. He provides services under the supervision of Tuba Habib, LMHC-D, NCC, CASAC-T.
Specialties: Anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), life transitions, emotional regulation, self-esteem, relationship concerns, stress management, college student mental health, immigrant and first-generation experiences, cultural identity concerns, and the effects of stressful or challenging life experiences
Services: Individual and group telehealth therapy for youth, young adults, college students, couples, and adults across New York

Salwa’s clinical approach is grounded in trauma-informed care and a holistic framework that addresses both the mind and the body. She provides analytical depth using evidence-based tools, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and reframe negative thought patterns, as well as dialectical behavior therapy-informed skills (DBT) to improve emotional regulation and distress tolerance. Recognizing how deeply stress is held physically, she integrates mindfulness and somatic-informed techniques to support nervous system balance and grounding. Salwa also works with clients to uncover how past narratives, family dynamics, core beliefs, and subconscious attachments drive current roadblocks. When useful, she draws on psychodynamic insights to give context to how past experiences or old patterns might be influencing a client's present choices. She is committed to providing culturally responsive care by recognizing how family traditions, societal expectations, life history, and systemic factors deeply shape a person’s mental health and identity. She helps clients honor their roots while safely unpacking the unique pressures and expectations that come with balancing multiple cultural worlds.
Salwa provides a grounded, objective, nonjudgmental, and supportive space where clients can safely navigate major life transitions, manage anxiety or depression, heal from trauma, overcome deeply rooted patterns, and build a stronger sense of self. Her clinical lens is person-centered and empathetic, ensuring that every client feels heard, respected, valued, and validated. Her goal is to collaborate with clients on a path to healing by empowering them to move forward with clarity, self-awareness, and a renewed sense of well-being. Her style is authentic and goal-oriented, tailored to individuals who are ready to gain practical tools while engaging in deeper self-reflection.
